Yasir Khan grew up in Karachi, Pakistan, and when he moved to Canada he had crippling social anxiety and was sure his accent was the reason his point never landed the way he meant it. He thought he was ‘stuck’ and didn’t think he could change. Luckily, Yasir decided to work with a public speaking coach and within 2 weeks of working with her, he won his first public speaking contest. That was the moment he realized speaking wasn’t his personality and it wasn’t his accent. It was simply a skill that he had not developed.
